Gamma Head Larry Jackson Files Lawsuit to Unmask Creators of Defamatory Websites

Larry Jackson’s legal action targets anonymous sites that alleged bot-driven sales for Kanye West’s Bully and a deceptive contract clause.

Larry Jackson, founder of the independent label Gamma, filed a lawsuit in New York state court this week aimed at identifying the person or people behind two anonymous websites, larryjacksonexposed.com and gammaexposed.com. The 12-page complaint, obtained by Rolling Stone, claims the sites published false and defamatory statements about Jackson and his company, marking an escalation in a dispute that began shortly after a late April profile positioned him as central to Kanye West’s return.

The suit asserts that the sites falsely accused Jackson of using bot-generated purchases to inflate first-week numbers for West’s latest album Bully, and of lying to Gamma staff about a contract clause that would drop West over any racist or antisemitic outbursts. Jackson says both claims are untrue and have damaged his reputation. The filing states the anonymous operator used a network of bot accounts on X and Reddit to amplify the content and make the campaign appear organic.

Jackson, a veteran who previously held roles at Interscope and Apple Music, argues the smear has caused substantial harm. Gamma attempted to investigate internally but found the sites were designed to mask their hosting origin. He now asks the court to empower subpoenas that would force hosting providers and platforms to surrender identifying information. The case follows a pattern of music industry figures turning to the courts to unmask anonymous online critics, a tactic with mixed success in defamation disputes.
