The band performed the ‘Use Your Illusion I’ track for the first time since its original tour, alongside other long-dormant material.
Guns N’ Roses reached deep into their catalog during a festival set in São Paulo this weekend. At the Monsters of Rock Brazil event, the current lineup played “Bad Apples,” a track from 1991’s ‘Use Your Illusion I,’ for the first time in 35 years.
According to setlist records, the song had only been performed twice before, both times on the album’s supporting tour in 1991. The first of those performances was also in Brazil. The band reportedly soundchecked another ‘Use Your Illusion I’ song, “Right Next Door To Hell,” which hasn’t been played live since that same era.
This move goes beyond standard tour variation. It signals a deliberate engagement with a specific, dense period of their history, choosing a deep cut that even the classic lineup largely left behind. For a band whose setlists are often tightly curated around hits, the revival acts as a specific nod to dedicated fans and the location’s own history with the band.
