Julien Baker Joins Lucy Dacus for “Bullseye” at Outside Lands

During Lucy Dacus’ set at Outside Lands, Julien Baker made a surprise appearance to perform “Bullseye,” from Dacus’ 2025 album Forever Is a Feeling.

During the second day of Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park, Lucy Dacus brought a familiar presence to the stage. “I wanna invite my best friend to the stage. Would Julien Baker please join?” Dacus announced, and her boygenius bandmate emerged to perform “Bullseye,” a track from Dacus’ 2025 album Forever Is a Feeling.

Baker grinned and admitted, “I’m a little nervous.” The exchange was brief, but it set the tone for a performance that felt less like a rehearsed cameo and more like two close collaborators sharing a moment. Their voices intertwined cleanly through the song, with none of the forced bombast that often accompanies festival guest spots.

Dacus released Forever Is a Feeling last year, a solo effort that sharpened her narrative instincts without losing the intimacy that drew fans to her earlier work. “Bullseye” stands out as a subtle highlight—a quiet, lacerating piece of songwriting. Hearing it with Baker’s harmonies added a new dimension, recalling the effortless blend that made boygenius’ 2023 album the record a rare crossover success.

The surprise appearance won’t rewrite the story of the weekend, but it felt like a meaningful footnote: two songwriters, still paying attention to each other’s work, still willing to show up without making it a spectacle.
