Beabadoobee Debuts Title Track “Pylon” at Red Rocks

At a Red Rocks show on Friday, Beabadoobee gave the title track of her upcoming album its first public airing. The song, also called “Pylon,” arrived during the encore, played alone on acoustic guitar after a brief word to the audience.

“I’m really sorry if I fuck up. This is the first time I’m ever playing it,” she said, making the moment feel less like a grand unveiling than a tentative sketch shared in real time. “I don’t know why I have to keep explaining myself. There’s a bunch of instrumentals, so it’s really short. So just imagine things are happening.”

The set drew heavily from the new record, billed as a collab-heavy project. It began with lead single “Sun Has Set” and also featured the unreleased “Memories,” alongside recent single “Switchblade” earlier in the show. The album Pylon is out September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope.

The performance fits a pattern of testing material in front of crowds before it’s fully baked, a move that suits the album’s construction—where production will presumably fill the space she asked listeners to imagine. For a record built around guests and layers, hearing its core piece stripped to voice and guitar offered an early glimpse of the songwriting underneath.
