Olli Appleyard keeps his distance from conventional roles. As the frontman of Static Dress—one of rock’s most unyielding new bands—he has no use for the rock star template. That same impulse now surfaces in his solo work as Love Spells, with the single ‘Maybe I Still Love You’ arriving as the final piece of a forthcoming debut album on RCA Records.
