The Glasgow group films a raw, hometown visual inside the iconic venue, offering a first look at their debut album Picking Petals.
Lucia & The Best Boys have placed their newest single exactly where it belongs. The video for ‘Better For The Worse’ was shot inside Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, a room that has held everyone from Simple Minds to Mogwai, and the choice is deliberate — not nostalgic decoration, but a signal of where the band sees itself standing.
The track arrives ahead of the Scottish group’s debut album Picking Petals, and the visual is a blunt, unadorned performance piece. No narrative tricks, just the band moving under the venue’s famous star-lit ceiling and sprung floor. That directness suits the single, which leans into friction and resolution without over-explaining itself.
Lucia & The Best Boys have spent recent years tracing the edges of alt-pop and dark indie rock, building a live reputation that makes a Barrowland shoot feel less like a flex and more like a natural step. The video doesn’t overstate the moment; it simply shows a band in a place that matters, playing a song that doesn’t flinch.
Picking Petals is expected later this year. ‘Better For The Worse’ suggests an album that will trade in sharp contrasts, anchored by a group that trusts location and performance over gloss.
