Margaret Glaspy Confirms Fourth Album ‘I Am Both’ for August Release

The singer-songwriter returns after a deliberate break from social media with a record produced by Joe Henry and a lead single about leaving the city behind.

Margaret Glaspy returns on August 7 with I Am Both, her fourth full-length and first since she deliberately withdrew from social media to reclaim her writing practice. The album, out on ATO, arrives with the single “Michigan,” a post-breakup travelogue that began with a real trip to the Midwest.

“I was in Michigan a couple years back and had a really beautiful time,” Glaspy says. “It turned into a song about someone going through a bad breakup, and then deciding to just leave the city behind.” That retreat from the noise of daily input runs through the entire record.
