Melissa Weikart Announces New Album ‘Contact’ and Shares ‘L’amour se construit’

Melissa Weikart has announced ‘Contact’, a 12-track album due on 23 October through Midnight Special Records. The Paris-based, Boston-raised artist is sharing the news with ‘L’amour se construit’, a new single and video whose title translates as “love is built”.

The track lands at number seven on the record, immediately before ‘L’amour pt. 2’. Weikart describes it as “a plea to not only accept but welcome the inevitable messiness that accompanies our emotions around love.” That position shapes the album’s wider concerns: “In an increasingly automatised society where our desires are seemingly commodified at every turn, perhaps we can find solace in embracing imperfection and the contradictions that lie at the heart of what it means to be human.”

‘Contact’ moves between French and English, opening with ‘Crash’ and taking in titles such as ‘Mesurer le vent’, ‘The Intersection’, and ‘Appétit.e’. ‘New angles’ features Manu Delta and appears near the close, before ‘Catching up’ and final track ‘Bicycle’.

Weikart’s framing gives the album a clear point of tension: it considers emotional closeness while questioning how desire is packaged and sold. The single’s title suggests love as something constructed, not simply found, and the album leaves room for that construction to remain imperfect.
