A 2010 BBC Radio 1 recording lands on digital platforms ahead of the Danger Days deluxe edition and a global tour.
My Chemical Romance have made their live cover of Pulp’s “Common People” available on streaming platforms for the first time. The recording, originally captured for BBC Radio 1 in 2010, surfaces as the latest preview of the Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys deluxe edition, out July 10.
The track highlights the affinity between two groups with a shared instinct for narrative drama and social observation. Gerard Way’s delivery leans into the song’s class-conscious storytelling, backed by a band fluent in translating Britpop’s theatrical sweep into its own aesthetic.
It follows a previously released live take of “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” from the same BBC session. The deluxe reissue expands the concept album’s world as the band ramps up an extensive touring schedule. MCR will begin a European leg of the Black Parade 2026 tour this month, followed by U.S. dates from August to October, including a residency at the Hollywood Bowl and a stop at Louder Than Life. A Southeast Asian run closes the year in November.
For an act that built a legacy on visual and conceptual storytelling, revisiting “Common People” fits a broader archival impulse. The track arrives not as a novelty but as a reminder of the cross-generational threads MCR has often pulled into their work.
