TMZ reports the music mogul was hospitalized after a fight with another inmate at the New Jersey federal prison, an account that rests on unnamed sources inside the facility.
Sean Combs was treated for a head injury after a fight at the federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey, according to a TMZ report. The account, attributed to sources inside the facility, places the altercation on Friday, October 9.
The other man involved is Christopher Coke, the Jamaican drug trafficker known as “Dudus,” who has been held at Fort Dix since 2012 and is serving a 23-year sentence. TMZ described him as the institution’s “real kingpin,” a characterization that says more about prison hierarchy than about the fight itself.
According to the report, the friction followed an NBC News exposé on Combs’s living conditions, after which officials conducted at least two raids, seizing contraband and confiscating inmates’ cell phones, including Coke’s. Combs was already in solitary confinement and was reportedly on his daily break when the fight occurred. Both men were moved to the special housing unit for two weeks.
What makes the story notable is less the celebrity at its center than the mechanism it describes: publicity changing conditions inside a prison, and the resentment that follows. Every detail here traces back to anonymous sources rather than official records, which is worth remembering when a story this loud is built on voices this quiet.
