Diddy’s Prison Release Delayed Following Reported Inmate Altercation

Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain in federal prison longer than recently scheduled after a reported fight with another inmate. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has moved his projected release to February 20, 2028, rolling back a January 24 date that had briefly appeared in records. ABC News previously confirmed Combs was placed in solitary confinement following the altercation at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Combs is serving a 50-month sentence handed down in October 2025 for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The trial that led to his conviction included testimony from former partner Casandra Ventura, who said he abused and assaulted her across more than a decade. Jurors saw a 2016 hallway security video of Combs beating Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel. In sentencing, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian stated that “a substantial sentence must be given to send a message to abusers and victims alike that abuse against women is met with real accountability.”

Prison credits and disciplinary actions have caused Combs’ expected release date to shift several times. He remains enrolled in a drug rehabilitation program and his legal team is appealing both the conviction and the sentence.
