The temporary Toronto venue sustained structural damage in Wednesday’s severe weather, with the company assessing the extent while AC/DC’s September 16th show remains on the calendar.
Toronto’s Rogers Stadium sustained significant structural damage when a powerful storm tore through the city on Wednesday, leaving portions of the 50,000-capacity outdoor venue visibly mangled. Photos and video from the grounds show collapsed framing and torn coverings around the stadium.
Live Nation Canada confirmed the damage in a statement Wednesday night, noting that no one was injured during the extreme weather event. “We are currently assessing the extent of the damage,” the company said. The storm brought torrential rain, large hail, flooding, and wind gusts approaching 62 mph to parts of southern Ontario.
The venue, which opened in June 2025 on the former Downsview Airport lands, was built in roughly nine months as a temporary seasonal facility. Its abbreviated run hasn’t shielded it from criticism — local residents and concertgoers have cited traffic gridlock, overcrowding, noise, and the quality of its construction as ongoing issues since the inaugural season, which included shows by Coldplay, Oasis, BLACKPINK, and Stray Kids.
The timing places added pressure on AC/DC’s Power Up Tour date on September 16th, currently the only remaining show listed on the venue’s calendar. Neither Live Nation nor the band has announced any change to the concert as of Thursday morning. Chris Stapleton had performed at the venue one day before the storm hit.
