serpentwithfeet Details Sentinel EP, Moves to One Little Independent Records

serpentwithfeet has set a new label course. The New York singer-songwriter will release the Sentinel EP on December 4, his first project for One Little Independent Records after nearly a decade with Secretly Canadian.

The title track is out now. Built around his gospel roots and the cadence of sea shanties, “Sentinel” treats devotion as reverent and charged. In a statement, serpentwithfeet said the song began with thinking about “homoeroticism and the ways that men socialize when they’re isolated.” From there he turned to patriarchy, hierarchy, and the way men yield to power. “It made me wonder what happens when we experience that erotically,” he said.

Sentinel follows 2024’s GRIP and includes seven tracks, with a closing feature from TYGAPAW. The EP reads as a focused study of submission, ritual, and the blurred line between worship and desire.

The move to One Little Independent Records shifts the singer’s working life. What remains consistent is his interest in intimacy as a site of tension, not comfort.
