Solange, Pink Pantheress and Joe Burrow Open “Unfinished Projects” at the High Line

Solange, Pink Pantheress and Joe Burrow are showing unfinished work in public this week. The three have partnered with Google Chrome on “Unfinished Projects,” an exhibition at the High Line’s Chelsea Market Passage in New York, running September 24 to 27.

Solange’s contribution is the most directly connected to her art practice. The sculpture conducts electricity and shifts over time through human energy. It builds on an unfinished piece from her 2019 Venice Biennale performance “In Past Pupils and Smiles,” and continues her interest in using sculpture to move performance into everyday audience contact.

Pink Pantheress approaches the project from a different direction. Known for drawing on early-2000s UK garage and club sounds, she turns to footwear, reworking ballet flats into customizable pieces that pair nostalgia with object design. Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, contributes a bespoke chess set in crystal and marble, mixing his interest in geology with the game’s strategic logic.

The grouping is uneven by design. Two music figures and an athlete, working across sculpture, fashion and objects, share little beyond the idea of returning to something left incomplete. The exhibition makes that return physical and public, without resolving it.
