The Rae Sremmurd duo closed out Friday night of weekend two with a set that drew heavily from their shared catalog.
The Sahara Tent at Coachella’s second weekend became a reunion point when Swae Lee brought Slim Jxmmi onstage during his late-night Friday set. The two, known together as Rae Sremmurd, performed “Black Beatles” to a crowd already calling the appearance “Swaechella” before the set had finished.
Swae Lee’s solo work has often moved away from the duo’s formula, but this set leaned on shared history. Slim Jxmmi’s arrival was unannounced, though the pair have collaborated sporadically since their last full-length album. Their chemistry, honed over years of touring and recording, was immediate.
The performance arrived as the festival’s late-night energy was peaking. Basslines from nearby stages bled into the palm trees, but the chorus of “Black Beatles” commanded attention. It was a precise, crowd-focused choice: no new material, no solo detours, just a return to the catalog that built both careers. The moment acknowledged that, for all of Swae Lee’s individual success, the connection between these two artists still holds its own kind of draw.
