The Linda Lindas Detail Third Album ‘Gotta Get Out,’ Recruit Hayley Williams for New Single

The Los Angeles quartet’s first album for Reprise Records arrives August 28, featuring a Paramore-informed new single.

Los Angeles band The Linda Lindas have announced their third album, Gotta Get Out, out August 28 via Reprise/Warner Records. The news lands alongside “Closer,” a new single featuring Hayley Williams.

The track leans heavier than much of the quartet’s previous work, channeling a guitar-driven angst that echoes Paramore’s late-2000s urgency. Williams takes the chorus, while drummer Mila de la Garza shifts into an anthemic half-time bridge, giving vocalist Bela Salazar space for a blunt lament. The collaboration arrives two months after “Burning Out,” the album’s first preview.

Gotta Get Out marks a few departures. It’s the band’s first release since moving from Epitaph to the major-label orbit of Reprise earlier this year. It’s also the first time they wrote together in the same room—a decision that, by all early accounts, sharpened the album’s sound and scope. In a statement, Salazar and bandmate Lucia de la Garza described “Closer” as a song about losing control of time and watching yourself age from a distance. “Lately, we’ve been realizing how important it is to stay present, especially when our lives feel constantly in motion,” they said. They also noted that Williams has seen them grow up over the past decade, calling her “the queen of emo.”

The Linda Lindas have not yet announced a headlining tour behind the album, but they’ll support Bleachers on a handful of fall dates and perform at Tom Morello’s Power to the People festival in October.
