A longtime live staple gets a proper recording, revisiting a song the band also cut for a 2003 Ramones tribute.
The Offspring have released a studio version of the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated.” The band framed the recording as a response to how often the song has appeared in recent setlists. “We’ve been playing this live on tour, so we thought we’d record a proper studio version for you,” the group stated.
This is not the first time the California band has put the track to tape. They previously recorded it for We’re a Happy Family: A Tribute to Ramones, released in 2003. The new version gives the cover a standalone release outside the tribute package, which may matter for listeners who know the song from live shows rather than from the earlier compilation.
The Offspring have select North American shows and festival dates scheduled from mid-September through late November.
