The Offspring’s Noodles Pulls Out of Live Dates Citing a “Fairly Serious Health Issue”

The guitarist, a member since 1985, announced he is stepping away from the stage for the immediate future, leaving the band to fulfill its remaining 2026 dates without him.

Noodles will not be onstage with The Offspring for the foreseeable future. In a statement posted to the band’s social media accounts on October 21, the guitarist said he is stepping away from live performances “to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue.” He offered no diagnosis, no timeline, and no indication of when he might return beyond a stated hope that it happens “sooner rather than later.”

The rest of the band, he wrote, has his back and will continue playing in his absence. That arrangement starts almost immediately. The Offspring are booked for the Rock 2 Freedom benefit at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 24, then SEMA Fest in Las Vegas on November 6, Corona Capital in Mexico City on November 21, and iHeartRadio’s ALTer Ego 2027 concert on January 16.

Noodles’ last appearance with the group came on October 18 at Mission Bayfest in San Diego, three days before the announcement. He has been in The Offspring since 1985, which means he has played on every studio album the band has released, up to 2024’s SUPERCHARGED. That tenure makes him more than a sideman in a touring configuration; he is part of the band’s continuity, and his absence changes what those upcoming shows are, however well they are handled.

The statement was brief and short on detail, which is its own kind of information. Health disclosures in music tend to arrive in stages, and this one stayed at the first: a musician asking for room, thanking people for their thoughts, and leaving the schedule intact for everyone else.
