The Berlin producer’s latest on mindcolormusic gathers material recorded between 2021 and 2024, tracing a catalog built on continuity rather than trend.
mindcolormusic has been operating from Berlin since at least 2016, issuing braindance, IDM, jungle, and breakbeat electronica through limited hand-stamped physical releases and digital editions. The label’s catalog uses the “aux” prefix across all artists, a system that reads less as a promotional device than as a running archive. The four-digit entry number is not just an identifier; it is evidence of continuity.
omni causa, the Berlin-based producer at the center of that collective, has been part of the label since its earliest releases. aux4444 pt.1 gathers material recorded between January 2021 and September 2024, a span that gives the record an accumulated quality rather than a single-session feel.
“Its Relative” carries the most rhythmically ambitious arrangement. Distorted kicks and a percussion loop treated with what sounds like broken ring modulation create the core, while melodic builds surface and recede without crowding the drums. “Perspectives” works in a different register: the drum patterns and bassline lock into something genuinely catchy, with pad progressions that follow a clear structure. The compositional logic recalls Cylob’s approach on Cylobian Sunset, though the sound belongs to omni causa.
The release doesn’t announce itself as a breakthrough. It works better as a document of a specific aesthetic maintained over time.
