Brady Ebert, former guitarist for Turnstile, will stand trial beginning October 5th in Rockville, Maryland, for the alleged vehicular assault of the band’s singer’s father.
The trial of Brady Ebert, former guitarist of the hardcore band Turnstile, on charges of first-degree attempted murder has been scheduled to begin October 5th in Rockville, Maryland. The three-day proceeding will take place in Montgomery County Circuit Court before Judge John M. Maloney, with a pre-trial conference set for September 3rd and a motion hearing on September 25th.
Ebert stands accused of intentionally running over William Yates, father of Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates, with a car on March 29th. The elder Yates sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg. Ebert has maintained that he acted in self-defense, but prosecutors upgraded the charge to first-degree attempted murder roughly a month later—a count that carries a potential life sentence. He remains held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds.
Turnstile publicly severed ties with Ebert in 2022, citing a pattern of destructive behavior. In a statement following the arrest, the band described exhausting all resources before cutting contact, adding that the situation escalated to threats of violence and, ultimately, “a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father.”
