Usher has addressed the wave of online claims that he used a lookalike during a recent tour stop, calling the idea absurd. A video posted to the Raymond & Brown Tour’s official Instagram shows a moment from a performance, accompanied by his reaction: “Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” He added, “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”
The speculation began after an Aug. 7 show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Fan footage circulated on TikTok, with viewers insisting the figure on stage didn’t look like Usher. One concertgoer wrote, “That is NOT Usher.” Another commented, “I’m confused. I see Usher, but then I don’t.” The theories leaned toward a hired double, not a literal clone.
Usher’s joint tour with Chris Brown runs through Dec. 12 in Tampa. Brown’s recent solo trek grossed $300 million, while Usher’s last outing supported his 2023 album Coming Home. More quietly, Usher surfaced at Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium anniversary shows, performing “Heart of the City.” The rumor, however fleeting, underscores a familiar disconnect between live performance and phone-screen scrutiny — one the singer brushed off with characteristic brevity.
