Wasia Project to Release Debut Album ‘Nocturne’ on September 18th

The British-Chinese duo return with a full-length that draws on their live evolution, anchored by new single ‘Bleeding Gold’.

Wasia Project have confirmed their first album. ‘Nocturne’ arrives on September 18th, marking a turn toward more electronic textures from the British-Chinese duo of Will Gao and Olivia Hardy.

Since their 2022 debut, the pair have steadily refined a sound that leans into glistening synth work and alt-pop structures. A North American tour supporting Laufey gave them room to stretch. Sold-out headline shows in Los Angeles and New York followed, and the energy of those rooms seems to have shaped the album. They didn’t rush it.

New single ‘Bleeding Gold’ is out now. It’s a track about nostalgia, about looking back at your roots and understanding that you can’t return to an earlier version of yourself. The production has a spring-like lightness but carries an introspective hum beneath. There’s no big, cheap crescendo. Instead, it settles into a calm, almost devotional glow. Hardy’s voice stays centered, Gao’s arrangement pulling at the edges without overloading the song.

The album title hints at something nocturnal, and that fits. Wasia Project’s music has always had a quiet, after-midnight feel. ‘Nocturne’ seems poised to deepen that, drawing on two years of live work and writing. It’s not a debut that was thrown together off the back of a viral moment. It arrives with a small but sturdy foundation beneath it.

‘Nocturne’ is available for pre-order now. ‘Bleeding Gold’ is streaming across platforms.
