A night before his Riot Fest appearance, the 95-year-old actor will play his first show with a metal backing band at Chicago’s Park West, drawing from a forthcoming covers-heavy debut.
William Shatner will play his first show with his metal backing band The Fuckers on September 19 at Park West in Chicago, one night before his scheduled Riot Fest set. The booking places the 95-year-old Star Trek actor among a run of Riot Fest side shows that also includes Chat Pile, Thrice, Show Me The Body, Black Flag, and Alkaline Trio at venues across the city.
The show arrives shortly after Shatner beat Stage 4 melanoma, and it serves as a preview of his forthcoming debut metal album. Two covers from that record have already been confirmed: Judas Priest’s “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” with Rob Halford on vocals, and “Living After Midnight” featuring drummer Mikkey Dee of Motörhead and Scorpions.
For Chicago, Shatner’s band will include guitarist and musical director Marcus Nand, bassist Phil Soussan, guitarist Britt Lightning, and drummer Fred Aching. Ahead of the Riot Fest set, Shatner also revealed an unusually specific rider: eight pallets of Faygo, an intro video made by GWAR, and adoptable puppies.
