A new interview suggests the long-dormant Buckingham Nicks duo, whose pre-Fleetwood Mac work was recently reissued, may be considering a return to the studio.
Lindsey Buckingham has suggested a new musical collaboration with Stevie Nicks could be possible. In a recent interview with MOJO, Buckingham was asked about the potential of working with Nicks again following last year’s reissue of their 1973 duo album.
He stated that while there are no concrete plans, he believes Nicks is open to the idea. Buckingham described the reissue as a positive step that helped clear the air after years of personal and professional friction. He framed a potential return to the studio as a way to revisit the creative partnership that predated their era in Fleetwood Mac.
The Buckingham Nicks album returned to streaming services and saw a vinyl reissue in late 2023. Its return sparked renewed interest in their work as a duo, separate from their monumental success within the larger band. Buckingham’s comments mark the first direct indication that this archival project could lead to new material.
Any collaboration would follow a lengthy period of estrangement, notably after Buckingham’s dismissal from Fleetwood Mac’s 2018 tour. His current remarks point toward a deliberate, if cautious, thaw in their creative relationship.
