Chilli Clarifies Political Donations After Accidental Trump Support

The TLC singer says a donation to a Trump-affiliated committee was a mistake, following a social media misstep involving a Michelle Obama conspiracy theory.

TLC singer Chilli has moved to clarify her political stance after a report from Rolling Stone detailed a 2020 donation to a committee supporting Donald Trump’s reelection. The singer stated the donation was an error, claiming she did not “read the fine print” and believed she was contributing to military veterans.

The financial disclosure emerged after Chilli accidentally reposted a social media video promoting a conspiracy theory about former First Lady Michelle Obama. She quickly deleted it and posted a follow up stating, “I am NOT MAGA,” referring to Trump’s political slogan.

In her explanation, Chilli framed the donation as a misunderstanding of the committee’s purpose, a group called the Trump Victory committee. The incident highlights the complex navigation of public political identity for artists, where a single financial action or social media interaction can prompt immediate clarification.
