The indie jam band’s new track arrives after a chaotic promotional campaign, offering a moment of surrender within the noise.
Goose have cut through their own colorful promotional static with a new single. “Good2B” is the first track from their upcoming album ‘BIG MODERN’, announced after a campaign defined by cryptic websites and vibrant, clashing aesthetics.
The song itself functions as a deliberate counterpoint. Where the rollout has been deliberately disorienting, the music seeks a center. Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda describes it as a surrender to an ecstasy within chaos, a personal oasis in the algorithm. This intent translates to a track that feels more focused and groove-locked than some of their extended improvisational work. It’s built on a steady, bouncing rhythm section and clean, interlocking guitar lines that create a spacious pocket.
Vocally, Mitarotonda leans into a relaxed, almost conversational delivery that gradually builds into more soul-inflected phrases. The arrangement is notably tidy, prioritizing a cohesive group dynamic over individual virtuosity. The track’s progression feels like a controlled burn, generating heat through repetition and subtle textural shifts rather than explosive jams. It showcases the band’s ability to craft a song with immediate, accessible appeal while retaining their signature tonal warmth.
As a lead single, “Good2B” suggests a possible direction for ‘BIG MODERN’. It indicates an interest in tighter song structures and a more produced, perhaps even pop-adjacent, sensibility within their established sound. The track succeeds by offering a clear, melodic anchor after the visual and conceptual frenzy that preceded it. Its lingering question, that quiet doubt about whether it really is a good day, adds a layer of contemporary unease beneath the smooth surface.
