The Kyoto punk band announces “Is The New Album Out Yet?”, a final recording with drummer Kahokiss, ahead of limited touring.
Otoboke Beaver frames its first new material in two years with a question that feels both impatient and self aware. The upcoming maxi single is titled “Is The New Album Out Yet?”. It is scheduled for release on June 10 via Damably.
This collection marks a transition. It is the final recording to feature drummer Kahokiss, who has retired from the band. The lead track, “I Don’t Need To Be In Your Strike Zone”, suggests a continuity of their frenetic style. The band’s own description promises the usual chaos, a reliable indicator of their compressed, high velocity punk.
The release arrives as the band’s live presence remains selective. They are currently on tour in Japan, with wider international dates anticipated later this year. The only currently confirmed North American appearance is at the Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland, California, scheduled for July 2026.
New music from Otoboke Beaver operates on a specific logic. Their songs are brief, intense eruptions. The title of this maxi single winks at the gap since 2022’s “Super Champion”, treating the wait as part of the texture. It is a gesture that fits a band whose work has always balanced precise musical agitation with a sharp, playful wit.
