The space agency has shared the handpicked songs used to rouse astronauts on the historic mission, continuing a tradition dating back over fifty years.
NASA has released the official wake-up playlist for the Artemis II crew, documenting the songs played to start each day of their ongoing mission. The list continues a custom established during the Apollo program, where mission control selects music to greet astronauts.
The ten day flight’s soundtrack so far includes Young & Sick’s “Sleepyhead” for the first morning and Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.” Other crew choices feature Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure,” the Glass Animals and Denzel Curry collaboration “Tokyo Drifting,” and CeeLo Green’s “Working Class Hero (Work).”
According to NASA, each track was personally selected. With two mission days remaining, the playlist is still being updated as the crew completes their lunar flyby. The practice transforms a routine procedure into a small, personalized cultural link between the crew and Earth.
