The artist responded directly to fan concerns about ticket costs for his upcoming Johnny Blue Skies tour, committing to price controls.
Sturgill Simpson has directly addressed fan complaints about ticket prices for his upcoming tour under the Johnny Blue Skies alias. After pre-sale tickets sparked discussion on social media, Simpson posted a statement to Instagram.
He acknowledged the steep rise in touring costs like fuel and inflation, but stated his ticket prices have not increased proportionally. Simpson emphasized that both high-end and low-end ticket prices remain the same as previous tours, placing the blame for higher final costs on added venue and ticketing fees.
Most notably, he made a firm commitment against dynamic pricing models, which allow prices to surge based on demand. “I can promise you we are not using ‘dynamic pricing’ and if I’m lying…sell my bones to Davey Jones,” he wrote. The tour with his band The Dark Clouds is scheduled to begin in September.
