Metallica Sets Record in Greece, Dailor Speaks on Hinds, APC and Puscifer Tour Together

A week of major heavy music news, from a historic Metallica concert to Brann Dailor’s first words on Brent Hinds’ exit and an unexpected pairing of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

Metallica drew the largest crowd of their career in Greece this week during a stop at Athens’ Olympic Stadium. The M72 tour date set a new attendance benchmark for a single rock act in the country, though the promoters have not released an official number. It was their first Greek show in more than ten years and it landed in a stadium that has rarely hosted metal on this scale.

Mastodon’s Brann Dailor opened up about Brent Hinds’ departure in an interview that surfaced midweek. He spoke plainly about the split, not looking to blame, but making it clear the band decided to continue without their guitarist of 25 years. It was a measured, honest turn in a story that had been mostly quiet since the announcement earlier this month. No replacement has been named.

A Perfect Circle and Puscifer will tour together this spring, a first for the two Maynard James Keenan fronted projects. The run of U.S. dates carves out a shared space for bands that have rarely crossed paths, despite the obvious connection. Tickets go on sale next week for a tour that few saw coming.
