After a quiet two years, Bridgers resurfaces with a tour of new material and a role in A24’s To Catch a Predator-inspired film, starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Lance Oppenheim.
Phoebe Bridgers spent two years largely out of sight after the 2024 Grammys. This spring, she began playing surprise shows in cities linked to UFO sightings, a run that’s since revealed itself as a full tour. The sets have included a string of new songs, pointing toward what would be her first solo album since 2020’s Punisher.
Now there’s more. The first teaser has arrived for Primetime, Lance Oppenheim’s A24 film inspired by To Catch a Predator, and Bridgers is in it. Robert Pattinson stars and uses one of his recognizable vocal turns to narrate a monologue about accountability in the voice of Dateline NBC’s Chris Hansen. Costars Merritt Wever and Skyler Gisondo also appear. Bridgers herself shows up only briefly, glimpsed in a rapid sequence of images that scroll across the screen.
The movie marks her proper acting debut after earlier appearances as herself. No release date is given, but the teaser confirms a theatrical-only run this fall, with Matthew Maher and Bokeem Woodbine in the cast. The film is also set to screen in India later this year.
