Dutch Officials Clear Kanye West to Perform, Opening European Tour on His Birthday

The Netherlands will allow the rapper’s two Arnhem concerts this June, citing insufficient legal grounds to bar entry, while other European stops have been blocked or postponed.

Kanye West will enter the Netherlands without restriction next week. Dutch officials have concluded their investigation into the rapper and found no legal basis to deny him entry, clearing the way for two concerts at the GelreDome in Arnhem on June 6 and June 8. The second show falls on his 49th birthday.

Deputy Prime Minister Bart van den Brink told Reuters that past statements alone are not enough to block access. “Solid grounds are needed to bar people from entering [the country]. We have not found those in the analyses that were conducted,” he said. “His past statements are not, at this moment, a reason to deny him entry.”

The Dutch dates launch a European tour that has been met with mixed reception from authorities. West was barred from the United Kingdom in April, leading to the cancellation of his Wireless Festival headline slot. A planned performance in France was also postponed that month.

The artist, who goes by Ye, has faced continued institutional pushback since 2022, when antisemitic remarks and pro-Hitler rhetoric cost him brand partnerships with Adidas, Balenciaga, and Vogue. He doubled down repeatedly, including a 2025 song titled “Heil Hitler,” before issuing a full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal in January 2026, attributing his behavior to untreated bipolar disorder. Many critics saw it as a pattern rather than a turning point.

Saturday’s concert at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium precedes the Netherlands visit, with over 75,000 tickets sold. Organizers have suggested Travis Scott and West’s daughter North might appear alongside local opening acts. The Arnhem shows now stand as the tour’s first confirmed Western European stops following the recent series of blocked entries.
