Green Desert Water Detail Third Album ‘Eerie Meadows,’ Release “Woodcutter”

The Spanish trio bolsters its heavy rock with the swing of old-school Pearl Jam and the weight of Kyuss on a single about moving from isolation toward light.

Green Desert Water have set June 19 as the release date for their third full-length, Eerie Meadows. The Spanish trio’s new single, “Woodcutter,” is out now and points clearly to the band’s strengths: a heavy rock sound rooted in ‘90s touchstones, animated by a groove-first approach. Guitarist and vocalist Kike Sanchís leads a track where the rhythm section of Juan Arias García (bass) and Dani Barcena (drums) locks into a swing that recalls the looser moments of Pearl Jam, while the fuzz and blues runs pull from the Kyuss and Monster Magnet playbook. A bit of cowbell even sneaks into the mix.

Recording took place at Tutu Estudios in Asturias, with Sergio Tutu handling production, recording, and mixing alongside co-producer Diego Martinez. Mastering was done by Chris Goosman at Baseline Audio Labs in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The album will arrive on vinyl through Kozmik Artifactz, with CD and digital editions coming via Small Stone Recordings, a label that has long been a reliable home for this kind of fuzzed-out rock.
