Tia Gordon Locates Clarity on New EP ‘i asked the stars for this. x’

The UK neo-soul singer’s latest project maps the quiet spaces between friendship, self-assurance, and distance.

Tia Gordon’s new EP ‘i asked the stars for this. x’ is out now. The UK neo-soul singer wrote it between London and Los Angeles, threading together feelings of gratitude, distance, and the particular weight of platonic love. Across the project, Gordon refines a sound built on intimate songwriting and unhurried soul warmth.

The EP opens with ‘should i give it up?’, a track that raises questions but finds its answer in the quiet focus Gordon brings to creation. In the companion video for ‘friends’, warm scenes of companionship sit next to shots of her alone, a nod to the way real friendship lingers even when friends aren’t in the room. Gordon has spoken plainly about the subject. “A friendship break-up can be as painful as a romantic break-up,” she noted. “We’re so hellbent on romantic love, that we forget our platonic loves.”

The title itself comes from a place of arrival. After years of uploading covers online and more recent tours across Europe, Gordon says she feels the strongest she’s ever felt. The EP captures that moment without smoothing out its wobblier edges. “I did ask the stars to be at the point I’m at now,” she said. “There was so much gratitude pouring into this project.”
