Beats Per Minute’s May 2026 Curates playlist arrived this week, gathering new music that ranges from the long-awaited return of Boards of Canada to Drake’s latest album drop and a blistering corrido from Christian Ortega. The monthly selection, assembled by the publication’s staff, doesn’t aim for a single mood so much as it maps a cross-section of what’s moving right now.

Boards of Canada’s “Father and Son” appears from their first album in 13 years. The track chops a stiff counsellor’s voice into something resembling a rap, pushing the duo’s use of vocal samples into stranger territory.
