BPM’s May Curates Playlist Collects Tracks from 6LACK, Boards of Canada, and Charli xcx

Beats Per Minute’s May 2026 Curates playlist arrived this week, gathering new music that ranges from the long-awaited return of Boards of Canada to Drake’s latest album drop and a blistering corrido from Christian Ortega. The monthly selection, assembled by the publication’s staff, doesn’t aim for a single mood so much as it maps a cross-section of what’s moving right now.

Boards of Canada’s “Father and Son” appears from their first album in 13 years. The track chops a stiff counsellor’s voice into something resembling a rap, pushing the duo’s use of vocal samples into stranger territory. Rob Hakimian writes that the group is “soundtracking the apocalypse, but there’s still space for humour.”
