Kevin Copeland Readies Debut Solo Album ‘Only Love Songs’

The Vermont producer and Big Net member steps forward with a personal full-length, arriving July 2. New single “Hotel Bar” is out now.

Kevin Copeland will release his first solo album on July 2. The Vermont-based producer and member of The Big Net titled the 11-track project Only Love Songs, and it marks a shift from his years of behind-the-scenes work with artists like Allegra Krieger, Lily Seabird, and Hannah Frances.

The album draws on a close circle of collaborators. Big Net rhythm section Logan Miley (bass) and Andrew Emge (drums) helped guide the songs toward Copeland’s own voice. He described the material as circling the thought that “tomorrow is possible” and that suffering is just one factor in an economy of emotion. That perspective runs through tracks like the just-shared “Hotel Bar” and its predecessor “Stay.”

Copeland’s previous output lived inside larger group dynamics and production credits. Here, he steps out front without abandoning the people who shaped his music. The album’s title, Only Love Songs, might scan as straightforward, but the tracklist suggests a careful, guarded optimism. Songs like “My Body Is Trying To Keep Me Down Again” and “That’s All Over Now” play with the weight of personal struggle before the record closes on “Goodnight.”

The album arrives July 2. “Hotel Bar” is available now.
