Steve Lacy Confirms ‘Oh Yeah?’ Release Date, Shares “The Feeling”

The single and its video arrive as the album’s July 17 drop is set alongside a new solo album from Syd.

Steve Lacy confirmed that his third album, Oh Yeah?, will arrive July 17 via RCA. The news lands with the release of “The Feeling,” the second single from the project, and a video directed by Matthew Castellanos.

The album was first announced last August during a Rolling Stone interview and the single “Nice Shoes.” Earlier this week Lacy shared the cover art, shot by Gus Van Sant. “The Feeling” is an acoustic-driven ballad, built around a sparse guitar line and a soft funk pulse. Lacy’s voice settles into a simple, repeated question on the chorus: “Am I ya baby?” The song’s longing is direct, the arrangement deliberately unadorned.

July 17 also marks the release of Syd’s new album, Beard. Lacy and Syd, longtime bandmates in The Internet, dropping solo records on the same day adds a quiet symmetry. Lacy appears elsewhere today, too, on the closing title track of Malcolm Todd’s album Do That Again.
