Rock for Ronnie Raises Over $125K for Dio Cancer Fund

The annual benefit closed with an all-star jam featuring Lita Ford, Vinny Appice, and other artists.

The annual Rock for Ronnie concert raised more than $125,000 for the Ronnie James Dio Cancer Charity, extending a run of heavy metal philanthropy in the vocalist’s memory.

The day brought together a cross-section of hard rock and metal players. It ended with a long all-star jam session. Lita Ford, Vinny Appice, and a cast of other musicians shared a stage for a set that leaned into the communal ethos Dio often embodied.

Dio died of stomach cancer in 2010. The charity founded in his name has since directed funds toward cancer research and patient support programs. Rock for Ronnie remains one of the more visible annual benefits tied to his legacy—drawing veteran artists and a crowd that treats the gathering less as a nostalgia exercise than as a working fundraiser.
