Moon Destroys Add New Voice with ‘Flowers’ From Second Album OMNI

The band welcomes Zach Amster (Abrams) on vocals and guitar for the first single from OMNI, out September 4 via Blues Funeral Recordings.

Moon Destroys have released “Flowers,” the first single from their forthcoming second album OMNI. The track introduces Zach Amster—known for his work in Abrams—as the band’s new vocalist and guitarist, expanding a line-up already built on the clear chemistry between Juan Montoya (founding member of Torche) and Evan Diprima (Gold Pyramid, Royal Thunder).

The Atlanta-rooted trio’s 2023 debut She Walks by Moonlight stitched post-rock drift into riff-heavy doom and shoegaze wash. “Flowers” pushes that sound into a more pliable space: Montoya’s guitar language remains instantly recognizable, threading through molten low-end and a weightless psychedelic shimmer, but Amster’s vocal is the piece’s new centre. He delivers it with a bruised, romantic uncertainty that makes the song feel like a private transmission—sad, hopeful, and built from effortless inspiration.

“‘Flowers’ was one of the first demos given to me from Evan and Juan,” Amster says. “The groove, the feel, and the signature Juan Montoya lead. It was all there for me to feel truly inspired. The words just started to pour out of me, effortlessly. … Looking back at the lyrics, it’s a song about growth. It’s either a breakup or a breakthrough.”

Montoya frames the album as “a universe built upon constantly shifting sands,” adding that the first taste of it is “soothing lava to the ears.” OMNI lands September 4 on Blues Funeral Recordings. Moon Destroys head out with The Well starting August 19.
