Stage & Radio hosts a free party exploring football’s resonance beyond the pitch, with sets from Dr Dubplate, Mixtress, and local selectors.
The connection between football and music is often felt more than discussed — a goal soundtracked by a terrace chant that years later still triggers a flood of half-remembered images. On Thursday 25 July, a new Manchester party called Beyond 90 gives that connection a physical space, without the pressure of a match. Running from 7pm to midnight at Stage & Radio in the Northern Quarter, the event is rooted in the idea that the sport’s cultural pull extends well past the final whistle.
Created with Ukrainian vodka brand Nemiroff, the night pulls together a lineup that reflects football’s cross-border language. Dr Dubplate, the Bristol DJ and ec2a label head, puts it plainly: “Football has a funny way of turning songs into memories. A tune can be completely normal one minute, then suddenly it’s attached to a goal, a missed penalty, or 200 people throwing pints in the air.” He’ll play alongside London’s Mixtress, plus Manchester duo SHIMRISE and multi-genre selector Shadev. Bespoke vodka cocktails and exclusive football tees nod to the 2026 World Cup summer without veering into nostalgia for its own sake.
Entry is free with RSVP via DICE — a small logistical note that also signals the night isn’t about gatekeeping. In the middle of a summer that often turns football talk into transfer gossip and tactical spirals, Beyond 90 seems more interested in what stays with people when the screen goes dark.
