The shred-era icon resurfaces with a limited metallic gold finish across six current models, priced from $999.
Kramer’s 50th-anniversary collection doesn’t overthink the formula. Six of the brand’s current electric models—the neck-thru SM-1 HH, Volante, NightSwan, 84, Pacer Carrera, and Baretta—are now finished in a uniform metallic gold, with black hardware and, on the Volante only, a black pickguard. It’s a restrained nod to an era when Kramer dominated the US shred market with graphics and paint jobs that were rarely subtle.
The spec sheets keep things performance-focused. All models share a 10″–14″ compound-radius ebony fingerboard, jumbo frets, and a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo. Pickups vary: the Volante gets a pair of Kramer USA Neptune humbuckers, while the rest use Evolution PRO humbuckers. No pickguard on most of them—there’s a utilitarian streak in Kramer’s design history that predates the theatrics.
Aljon Go, Kramer’s product manager and a longtime player of the brand, calls the collection a bridge between legacy and current expectations. His first electric was a Kramer, a 1988 Christmas gift. “These guitars honour our legacy while delivering the tone, playability, and reliability today’s players expect,” he said in a statement.
Prices start at £949 / $999 for the single-humbucker Baretta, rising to £1,199 / $1,299 for the Volante HHFR. Each comes with a gig bag. For a brand that built its name on speed and excess, the gold finish reads less like a celebration and more like a quiet reset—one that doesn’t need to shout.
