Rush Postpones Fort Worth Shows After Geddy Lee Diagnosed With Laryngitis and Bronchitis

The band pushed two Dickies Arena dates to mid-July following a doctor’s order for Lee to rest, marking the second schedule disruption in a week.

Rush has postponed its two remaining concerts at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, after vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee was diagnosed with laryngitis and bronchitis. The band announced Tuesday that the June 20 and July 2 shows will now take place on July 11 and July 13, respectively. A statement on Rush’s Instagram cited medical advice for Lee to “rest and recover before returning to the stage.”

Guitarist Alex Lifeson addressed fans in a video, explaining that Lee could “barely speak, let alone sing” during soundcheck. “We can’t do a show that’s not 100 percent,” Lifeson said. “That’s our responsibility to you, and we live by that.” The band’s written statement struck a similar note: “After more than 50 years of touring, we’ve always believed that if we’re going to step on stage, we owe you the very best performance we can give—and right now, that simply isn’t possible.”

This is the second time in a week that the group’s Fort Worth run has been reshuffled. A June 24 performance was previously moved to July 2 due to “unforeseen travel and border-related delays” affecting production. Rush had performed on June 26 and June 28 before the latest setback.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new dates. Refund requests will be handled at the original point of purchase for those unable to attend the rescheduled performances.
