The Indian-born artist, now moving between Los Angeles and Mumbai, introduces a bilingual, Jersey Club-leaning sound on her debut single, with Skrillex involved in the project to come.
Naisha, a new artist raised between India and the U.S., has released her first single, “so then,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The track drifts through airy production and Jersey Club tempo changes, while Naisha moves between English and Hindi to spell out a plain desire.
She grew up on Aaliyah, D’Angelo, Bob Marley, and Bollywood soundtracks, before drifting into modeling and acting training. A meeting with Skrillex at a morning rave turned into studio time the next day, a connection that now anchors her forthcoming debut EP, 911, co-created with Skrillex and Dilip Venkatesh.
“so then” began as a hook she recorded long ago, revisited with her producers, and later heard by Ty Dolla $ign, who asked to join the track. In the release, Naisha calls the EP “emotional, chaotic, playful, honest and completely my world.” She has spent recent months DJing internationally, launching her Naish To Meet Ya party series, and playing festival stages. The video for “so then” is out now.
