The English indie band’s latest track applies studio fidelity to a live favorite, ahead of their debut album *It Goes On*.
Westside Cowboy have shared “Pin Up Boys,” the newest track from their forthcoming debut album It Goes On, out August 31 via Island Records. The English indie band, still building their profile, has been releasing singles that signal a tight, guitar-driven orientation. “Pin Up Boys” reinforces that, but with an unusual backstory.
According to the band, the song was written a year and a half ago using an acoustic guitar, a drum machine sample pad, and screwdrivers as drumsticks. “It is by far the longest serving song on the album and the one that we have played the most live,” the band said. That live history became a defining factor in the studio. They chose to record a version that stayed faithful to how the track has settled on stage.
That decision gives the song a direct, uncluttered energy. The video, a playful visual accompaniment, leans into the song’s straightforwardness. It follows “Kick Stones (The Boys)” — an earlier single that sparked attention — and together they sketch a band comfortable with economy over excess.
With a debut full-length due, Westside Cowboy are moving from scattered tracks to a defined statement. “Pin Up Boys” suggests that statement won’t arrive overproduced or overwrought.
