ZZ Top Cancel Hollywood Bowl Date Over Unspecified Obstacles

ZZ Top have scrapped their August 5 performance at the Hollywood Bowl. A brief statement from frontman Billy Gibbons pointed only to “insurmountable obstacles,” offering no further detail on the nature of the forced cancellation.

Ticketholders will receive automatic refunds to the original payment method, including transportation and parking passes. The announcement, posted to the band’s social channels, asked fans to “bear with us for this brief interruption.”

The date was part of The Big One tour, which recently tacked on nearly two dozen summer shows for 2026. Stops in Fresno, Saratoga, and Modesto remain on the schedule for later this week, suggesting the issue is confined to Wednesday’s event.

Cheap Trick, who share select dates on the run, quickly pivoted. The band announced a “very special and intimate” show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood the same night—a 500-capacity room that sold out within hours.

Gibbons described the group’s ongoing roadwork in a press release earlier this year: “The more we’re out there, the better it feels.” For now, that drive is temporarily halted in Los Angeles.
