A brief onstage reunion brought the actor and the musician together mid-set, as the show’s fourth season continues.
Mumford and Sons’ Tuesday night show at Madison Square Garden came with an unannounced guest. Jason Sudeikis, co-creator and star of Ted Lasso, walked onstage to sing the series’ theme song alongside Marcus Mumford. The crowd responded with loud cheers as the two ran through the short, familiar tune, ending with a quick embrace before Sudeikis returned to the floor.
The moment doubled as a callback to Mumford’s own soundtrack work. He composed music for the Apple TV show, including the Emmy-nominated theme, and the pairing has never felt like a stretch—Sudeikis has appeared at previous live events in character, including a halftime sketch at the 2026 World Cup final. This time, the context was simpler: a performance inside a headlining arena set, without a scripted punchline.
The fourth season of Ted Lasso started this month, bringing Sudeikis back in the title role after a narrative conclusion that seemed, in 2023, final. Alongside returning cast members and a few additions, the show’s latest chapter arrives with less noise, making this fleeting live cameo one of its more visible, off-screen moments so far.
