A statement at the Green Day premiere places the project and its timeline into sharper focus.
The existence of a Weezer movie has moved from rumor to confirmation. During the Los Angeles premiere of Green Day’s *Nimrod* film on Wednesday night, Weezer guitarist Brian Bell offered a brief but direct update on the project.
Speaking to LA’s Alt 98.7, Bell said the film is already completed. “We already have,” he said when asked if the band would make a movie. “Although I’m not supposed to talk about it. But yes, it’s in the can. It’s gonna be incredible. You’ll see it in 2027.”
The timing is notable. Green Day and Weezer both emerged in 1994, and the two bands spent 2021 and 2022 sharing stages on the Hella Mega Tour. The appearance of a Weezer poster in a trailer for *Nimrod* had already sparked speculation, making Bell’s comments feel less like a leak than a casual confirmation of what fans were beginning to suspect.
What remains unclear is the production structure behind the Weezer project. *Nimrod* is a Live Nation Studios production, but Bell did not specify whether the Weezer film shares that backing. Live Nation also released a new trailer for its next feature, *Rolling Loud*, on the same day, but no connection between the two projects has been made.
With a 2027 release window mentioned by Bell, the band appears to be taking a longer view than a typical concert film cycle. The details are thin, but the project is no longer theoretical.
