J. Cole Cancels Sacramento Show After Tour Crew Member Killed in Truck Crash

J. Cole’s scheduled August 27 performance at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento has been canceled after a member of the touring crew died in a trucking accident earlier that morning. The venue announced the cancellation on social media, saying the crew member was killed while transporting gear from Tuesday night’s show at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

The driver, identified by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson of Jackson, South Carolina, was driving a semi-truck that veered off the interstate and overturned. He died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. “It’s unknown at this time, may have been a distraction or fell asleep. Unfortunately, the solo occupant did not survive the crash,” CHP Sgt. David Barker said in a statement.

The cancellation interrupts the next stop on Cole’s headlining run behind his seventh studio album, The Fall Off. The tour is slated to hit 50 cities across more than 15 countries. Dates in Oakland are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, followed by two shows in Los Angeles next week. Whether the accident will affect additional stops remains unclear.

Ticketmaster purchasers will receive automatic refunds. Those who bought tickets through third-party resellers were directed to contact their original point of purchase.
