The synth-focused artist pairs an analog earworm with a breakbeat experiment built around an Italian toy organ.
Danz CM is shaping a new phase of work less than a year after the ambient MYTHS. The artist has shared two tracks, “Bontempi Pop 3” and “A Violent Power,” as what Danielle Johnson calls “a double single of sorts.” On Instagram, Johnson framed the release as a signal: “You can only assume this means one thing: yes, that a greater body of work is on the horizon.”
The two songs do not sit in the same register. “A Violent Power” is a dreamy, hook-forward piece built entirely from analog synths. “Bontempi Pop 3” moves toward more fractured territory, pairing breakbeats with a Bontempi, the Italian toy organ that gives the track its name.
The pairing does more than announce new material. It separates Johnson’s instincts for direct melody from a sharper, more textural curiosity. After the quieter drift of MYTHS, the double single reads as a deliberate widening of approach rather than a quick continuation.
Both tracks are available now.
