Pyrotechnics sparked a brief fire above the stage at TD Garden, and Musgraves responded with jokes before finishing her 23-song set.
A small fire broke out on scaffolding above the stage during Kacey Musgraves’s Friday concert at Boston’s TD Garden, after a performance of “Golden Hour.” Fan video showed the fire likely started from sparkler-like pyrotechnics. Musgraves looked up and addressed it without losing the room.
“That looks bad,” she said. “I have way too much hairspray to be standing under that shit.” She told the crowd that spending time alone while making her latest album had given her anxiety, then nodded toward the fire and added, “So does that.”
She asked if anyone had a bedazzled fire extinguisher. The moment stayed brief. The fire went out on its own, and Musgraves finished the full 23-song set.
Earlier in the show, she paid tribute to Dolly Parton with performances of “Rainbow” and “Here You Come Again.” Musgraves continues her Middle of Nowhere Tour on August 31 in New York.
